Do What YOU LOVE.

How many of us are addicts at this point of time just because you gave up to peer pressure at some point?

No, Not necessarily Drinking or doing drugs. Any form of addiction, for that matter.

Watching TV series just because you thought that was cool. Or maybe you wanted to fit IN with your peer group while that is all that they discussed about. Wondered how many hours have you given up to binge-watching series? How many junk packets emptied in the process? How many calories got added to your belly?

Going Shopping. One crazy addiction among the young people. Even when you do not NEED it, you still WANT it ONLY BECAUSE your friends have it. Walking Shoes, Gym Shoes, Office Casuals, matching sandals...blah! And you are never happy with one pair in each category either. Add to it, the embarrassment it causes when you have to repeat clothes. Everyone is a mini celebrity these days. Thanks to the social media.

Never mind.

Welcome to the new age of peer pressure. Travelling. Yes. That's right!

I have met many confused souls in my life who have no idea about their life, whatsoever. All that they DO depends on what their friends (Or rather, the ones they FOLLOW) have DONE in their lives.

Ask a person about why they want to visit Paris or Bali or Ladakh. The answer would be, either one of their contacts have visited and recommended or it looks too good for photos, as seen on someone's profile on social media. The whole idea of travelling is to post them online and get appreciated. It has nothing to do with their preferences(like, what they admire). It is ONLY about being COOL. And that is SO NOT COOL.

I met someone recently who kept chanting that she needs to go on a break. And she needs to travel to feel good. I asked her when was the last trip that made her felt good. She said, "Umm..I don't know. I haven't really gone out of my city". She thinks so because people around her say so. Welcome to the Reality, fellas!

Internet is filled with articles which gives you a million reasons to quit your job and travel the world. A million reasons to go out on a solo trip. A million reasons to take a boys-only trip. A million reasons to prove why your girl gang is the best. A million reasons why you should travel when you are single. A million reasons why you should travel in your late 20's.A million reasons to take a solo bike ride in the scariest paths. TO HELL WITH IT !!!

Guess who is actually getting benefited with all these? Guess more.. The travel companies. The ones who make your travel plans. Duh!

Yes, It would be too cool to say that you have quit your job and you are touring the world. But Hell NO! Not unless your Dad's Bank account looks hell-RICH, because you are going to exhaust your's pretty soon anyway.

Take my advice people.

Don't get into this unless you know the answers to :

  • WHAT do I  enjoy? A serene landscape or a Party place or a historical monument?
  • HOW much would it cost? HOW many months' salary is going to be drained?
  • WHY do I have to take this trip NOW?
  • WHO do I travel with? Do I enjoy my company or need someone along or a group along?
  • Would I regret spending so much on one trip?

And if you are clear with the above, then GO FOR IT. Do not travel just for the heck of it. Just because your news feed asks you to.

SAVE and TRAVEL. Don't be dumb enough to go on credit and then cry about it for the next few months!

Well, If sleeping on the cozy bed in your bedroom and doing nothing is what you prefer, DO IT.
If you love reading books, sipping green tea, DO IT. You know which finger to show in case someone asks you to travel to find peace.

Good day peeps! :)
